On the AMC Blogs, Frank Darabont sat down to do a short interview concerning his inspiration for doing a Zombie series, and what it is like filming in Atlanta as opposed to a traditional place like Hollywood.
Frank explains that the rules for the zombies will be taken for the most part from George Romero’s original zombie movie, “Night of the Living Dead.” We won’t be seeing any running zombies that have become popular in recent years.
Frank states, “they’ll move no faster than that first zombie in Night of the Living Dead.”
Frank goes on to talk about how he was first introduced to “The Walking Dead” comic:
There’s no big mystery about how I came across The Walking Dead: I walked into a comic book shop some years ago and saw it. Since I happen to be a zombie nut, I took it home, I read it, and I said “Oh my God, there’s a great series in this.” And I’ve been the horse pursuing that particular carrot for five years now, delighted to finally be on the set.
Frank explains that he has a good relationship with his actors; specifically, Andrew Lincoln and Jon Bernthal. Frank also talks about the difference between filming in Atlanta from a more traditional place like Hollywood. He goes on to discuss how the series is giving him an opportunity to direct action. He says that he is embracing it and is excited.
“Yeah baby, I’m there! Let’s load those guns with more blanks, absolutely.”
