Check Out Bloody-Disgusting’s Walking Dead Set Visit
Recently a few websites have written up pieces on their trips to the set of AMC’s The Walking Dead. Ain’t It Cool News and IESB both gave us very excited and favorable reports, just adding to the already over-whelming excitement for the series. Today Bloody-Disgusting.com gave us their set visit and confirmed two things: 1). Keith Allen Hayes Lennie James of Jericho fame is playing Morgan Jones and 2). Adrian Kali Turner is playing Duane Jones; Morgan’s son. The scene in the comics where Duane hits Rick with a shovel is also in the episode. From what they report, it’s most likely layed out almost identical to the comic, with of course the exception of new material Darabont has added; Jones’ family back-story for instance.
Another thing they honed in on during their visit was Darabont’s reassurance as to the amount of gore that the show is going to have, and what we’re going to see on screen. In our most recent podcast Josh brought up a very interesting point about the amount of gore we’ll see in the show: “are they going to go wild in the pilot and tone it down in later episodes?”. I actually hope that is the case. Don’t get me wrong, as much as I love gore, I also love regular human story and character development. But from B-D’s set visit and what they told us about the horse (something we already knew since filming began), they also tell us a small bit about a female nurse at the hospital Rick wakes up in.
Aside from the horse shots, the other gory image is of a dead nurse that looks to have been one zombie’s late night snack. Her body is totally massacred, blood streaked and splattered all around her, a dark pool around her corpse. Some of her ribs are exposed and all that remains of one leg is a bloody stump.
