A while ago we got the only bad news (so far) regarding Frank Darabont and AMC’s The Walking Dead, and that was that Frank Darabont was only going to be directing the pilot episode of the series. I never really paid any mind to it, as J.J Abrams only directed ABC’s LOST pilot episode before letting others direct it. Like Abrams, Darabont is going to stay on board The Walking Dead, but most likely as a producer. Eventually coming back to direct more episodes in the future.
One would assume with all the new leaked set pictures that the pilot is wrapped and Darabont is either now on set watching over the production or off set. Well thanks to Dreadcentral, we’ve found out who the new director is! AMC’s sticking close to home with their choice too, seeing how it’s Breaking Bad’s Michelle Maxwell MacLaren calling the shots now. Other than directing a few episodes of Breaking Bad, she was co-executive producer on FOX’s X-Files for two years.
