TFAW recently had an interview with Charlie Adlard and Cliff Rathburn. The attention over the past few months has been solely been on Robert Kirkman and Frank Darabont. TFAW decided to interview the artists that brought Kirkman’s writing to life.
Charlie revealed that he has little to no involvement with the Television show. He does state that he is happy with the way the production is turning out and that he feels that the show is being modeled after his drawings. He is also greatly appreciative of AMC and the production crew for treating him so well while being on set.
Charlie also spoke how there is little interaction between himself, Kirkman, and Rathburn. They have all learned to trust each other and to allow each to have their creative input in what they do. Charlie spoke about how it was difficult succeeding Tony Moore as the artist for The Walking Dead after only six issues being in existence for the comic at the time. He wasn’t sure how the audience would react to a change in artists.
Cliff also gave his two cents and spoke about his technique and approach to when it comes to gray toning the comic.
