Ever since Robert Kirkman first talked about Andrew Lincoln and his devotion to the character of Rick Grimes in AMC’s live adaption of The Walking Dead, I’ve been really excited to see him bring the character to life. No I’ve never actually seen Love Actually, and in all honesty The Walking Dead is going to be my first look at Lincoln’s acting ability. For the sounds of it by everyone who has seen him on set filming says that he is amazing and that the character is in good hands.
Thanks to digitalspy, we got a small little bit where Lincoln talks about the role of Rick Grimes:
Rick is a very centred, serious, practical man.” he said. “He’s also a simple man. He’s got a very good moral centre. He’s like a moral compass. And what happens is this eroding of his moral centre.
Reading that makes me feel completely sure that Lincoln understands the role of Rick in the series. As he described Rick, it’s literally identical to Rick in the comics and nothing makes me happier than to know that Lincoln not only understands the character, but loves the character too.

So is Andrew Lincoln going to have his hand cut off after a certain point in the series? Or will that be a deviation from the comic? Or maybe they’ll just use CG from that point on.
That’s a good question JMonty. We won’t know for at least a couple more seasons. My bet is that he won’t lose his whole hand but may lose a few fingers. That, or there will be another character that will suffer Rick’s fate and will eventually be killed off.
