When AMC announced that they had picked up The Walking Dead to be a continuing show on their network, everyone wondered how they were going to play it out. Eventually we learned that they didn’t want to take too much of a risk and only ordered a 6 episode just to be safe. Well recently a contest popped up, allowing you the chance to win a walk on role to The Walking Dead’s set. Many people (including myself) were left wondering how we could win a walk on role to a show that wasn’t guaranteed a second season; granted AMC was implying that they picked it up for a second season.
Well I guess the overwhelming success of The Walking Dead at Comic-Con impressed AMC enough to give the thumbs up for a second season! Thanks to Digitalspy, we’re getting confirmation from Gale Anne Hurd herself, check it out:
We have to get through these first six episodes and then we’ll take a breath, the series will launch, and hopefully we’ll get extended to a second season,” she explained. “In which case, we get the opportunity to take it to 13 episodes
She also tell us that while Frank Darabont won’t be directing all of the second season, but will most likely come back for an episode. How does it make you feeling knowing that The Walking Dead is officially back for a second season? Pretty excited, I’d imagine!
Ummmmm… I don’t see ANYTHING here in the quote from Gale Anne Hurd that indicates they’ve been picked up for a second season.
She said, “HOPEFULLY we’ll get extended to a second season,” and then, “IN WHICH CASE, we get the opportunity to take it to 13 episodes.” (My emphasis.)
She sounds hopeful, I suppose, but still… no news here.
With all the positive buzz behind The Walking Dead, I highly doubt we won’t be getting a second season.
I agree, Corey, I’d be amazed if we don’t get a second season. All I was saying is that Hurd’s quote doesn’t indicate a second season pickup… yet.
[...] AMC already ordering a second season for The Walking Dead, and frankly I’m not surprised. Executive Producer Gale Anne Hurd says that they’re going to expand to a 13 episode season. With that from Hurd; [...]
