UPDATE: Season 2 of The Walking Dead UNCONFIRMED
When we first found out that we were only going to be getting a six episode first season, I was in a mixed bag. I thought that it deserved a 18 episode season, but I also understood AMC’s position and why they only wanted to experiment with a 6 season first episode. Well rumblings have been going around about AMC already ordering a second season for The Walking Dead, and frankly I’m not surprised. Executive Producer Gale Anne Hurd says that they’re going to expand to a 13 episode season. With that from Hurd; Frank Darabont telling us his plans for season 2, and the massive buzz behind the trailer, I’ll be honestly shocked if AMC doesn’t pick this up for a second season. Which now might not be the case.
Thanks to Fangoria and their insiders, we’re getting word that The Walking Dead season 2 will begin to film in February of 2011. No time is set on when (if) season 2 will air.

AMC has contacted The Walking Dead Podcast in order to let us know that this rumor is just that, a rumor. Sorry for any confusion that this may have caused the fans. However, as soon as we have an official confirmation of a second season you can be sure that we will be one of the first ones to report it.

Yeah, pretty much. Kinda sucks. However, it’s expected. This is more of a pilot season. I wonder if season 2 will be a split season. Six in 2011 and another six in early 2012
Always thought it seemed a bit premature that they were already ordering a second season, even Breaking Bad isn’t renewed until after the end of their current seasons…
We should be happy that we are in fact getting six episodes for the first season (again a la Breaking Bad) instead of a single episode pilot.
