The Walking Dead Episode Titles Revealed and New Character

Posted by Josh D. on Sep 8, 2010 in The Walking Dead News | 6 comments

According to IMDB, we now have the episode titles for the first six episodes of The Walking Dead. We also learn that Viviana Chavez will be playing a new character named Miranda who is listed under episodes four and five.

Here is your spoiler alert if you feel that episode titles are giving something away.

Episode 1: Pilot
Episode 2: Dead Man’s Identity
Episode 3: Fresh Meat
Episode 4: Cold Blood
Episode 5: Highway to Hell
Episode 6: Unhappy Ending

Now for my analysis of what we could expect from each title.

Episode 1: Pilot
I believe the first episode will pretty much follow the comic up to the point of where Rick enters Atlanta and finds himself surrounded by zombies. The episode ends with Rick inside the tank and Glenn communicating with him.

Episode 2: Dead Man’s Identity
My feeling is that the title indicates that Rick is considered a dead man because he is stuck inside of the tank and it seems that it is hopeless to get him out. However, after communicating with Glenn ,and later Andrea, it is revealed to Lori, Carl, and Shane that the man inside the Tank is indeed Rick.

Episode 3: Fresh Meat
Fresh Meat sounds to me that this is the episode that Rick is introduced to the group and is finding his place among the hierarchy that is in the group. It also sounds to me that this may be the episode where Glenn and Rick enter Atlanta for supplies after rubbing themselves with the body parts of a zombie.
Episode 4: Cold Blood
Episode 4 is the episode that Robert Kirkman wrote and I believe that there will be some kind of battle that happens between the Atlanta survival group and a rival survival group (Mexican Gang).  I believe a hard choice will be made that will end up with characters either turning on each other or members of the Atlanta group killing members of the rival group in order to assure the Atlanta group’s survival.

Episode 5: Highway to Hell
I believe that this will be where the group leaves Atlanta or leads up to the group leaving Atlanta. I have a feeling that this episode will have the tension rising between Rick and Shane over what the group should do. This will come to a conclusion when the group is attacked at night by zombies where the death of Jim and other characters occur.

Episode 6: Unhappy Ending
I believe this will be a journey away from Atlanta. I’m unsure exactly what could occur in this episode as we can pretty much assume that the showdown between Rick and Shane will not happen in the first season.

    Just speculating here, of course.

No Amy (Emma Bell) in ep. 5 (Highway to Hell), according to that IMBD page. Perhaps epic campfire fight occurs at the end of episode 4? Jim gets worse during episode 5 (he’s still in cast list for that ep) as Shane and Rick fight over whether to leave. End of episode, they’re on the move? Episode 6 brings them to the Center for Disease Control, as evidenced by the nurse in the cast for that ep?

The CDC is a new concept, so no idea how they’ll end the season. I’m sure they want it that way. I’d bet the season ends on a note not found in the comic.

I can’t wait for this. I need it now.

    Jason,

I like your reasoning there. Thinking back on all the news we’ve reported on the past. I have a feeling you may be correct. However, I’m not 100% sold that Amy is going to die this first season. There’s been talk about expanding her character a bit.

Personally, I think the death of either Amy or Shane needs to happen this season to show that none of the major characters are safe and to keep the audience on their feet.

Realistically, I think most of the new characters they created will die off this first season. For us longtime readers it won’t have as much of an impact. However, someone that is new to the series will find it shocking.

I don’t think any of the main charachters will get killed off in the first season and that includes Shane and Amy. Sure maybe the charachters the tv show creators made up will die and maybe that’s why their there, to give us that so called needed death and to take off the weight of that pre-judgement off of the main charachters we do know from the comic. Sure AMC is brave and bold but I don’t think their that brave.

Their making another final destination? Jeez is there really a need for another one? But anyways I like Emma Bell I think she’s a really good actress and it would be a great injustice if she was killed early on. But on another note and as an honest question how reliable is imdb? I seen that they posted up some actor to portray Robin in the forthcoming Batman film without any sort of reliable statement or piece of news, so how reliable are they?

IMDB you have to be very cautious on what you put on there. If you pay your fees to IMDB, you have control over your resume and you can put down just about anything you want. Sure, people will go in and moderate it. However, as you can see on The Walking Dead IMDB Page there are lots of people with uncredited roles. Obviously, it is them or their agents adding themselves to the episodes that they think they may air in.

IMDB is really a mixed bag and can’t be counted upon 100% of the time. However, I’ve found that it is right 80 to 90 percent of the time. Plus it’s fun to speculate on what we will be getting in the episodes.

Jason, I hope that your analysis is right. I don’t mind that Shane lasts a bit longer. However, the death of Amy early on is what really defines Andrea as a character throughout the series.

Also, I think I have to look into this comment section as it is putting posts out of sequence.

First I have to say that I love the comic/graphic novel. And while I did enjoy the first episode very much, I still picked at it a bit. I know they want to change it up to keep everyone, even those who have read the comics, surprised and wondering what’ll happen next but it’s just so different. Not bad, really good actually, but different.

Now, about deaths of characters. And characters it seem could be missing. I think Amy should die around episode 4. She dies early in the comic to show you that no one is safe. I liked Amy, but I think she needs to die. xP Besides, I want Andrea to grow into the character we all know and love as fast as she can. Shane SHOULD die at the end of Season 1. He dies at the camp site, he should never leave. It would kind of make me frown upon them if they change that. Shane’s death causes Rick to really become the leader. Besides, I don’t like Shane. Lastly, it looks like they may have casted their Tyrese but not Chris or Julie. They need those two characters, while not major characters they are connected to some very important things.

Anyway. I enjoyed the first episode. And from what I’ve seen I need to get use to the fact that the T.V. Series is going to be much different than the comics.

I hope they don’t change it TO much. Like the Prison, Woodbury, and the Governor still have to be in it. Hopefully the series gets that far.

Sorry for the previous double post. That must've occurred during my registration process. I, too, want the message to be loud and clear as quickly as possible. NO. ONE. IS. SAFE. Ever since I saw news the other day that Emma Bell had been cast as the lead in Final Destination 5 ( http://www.cinematical.com/201…..ination-5/ ) I started suspecting Amy is toast. Not that a conflicting schedule couldn't be avoided… it's just my gut tells me Amy isn't long for this world. I'm all for diversions and expanding the storyline, but I'd prefer it if they hit the major milestones. Amy's death, for me, was a fairly shocking milestone that I'd like to see portrayed as faithfully as possible. Perhaps I shouldn't put too much stock in that IMBD episode cast list, but it seems quite comprehensive and she is missing from the last 2 episodes, for sure, if that list is correct. I'm enjoying the speculation. I hope this thread grows.
