Fear.net got a chance to interview Robert Kirkman about the upcoming Walking Dead novel at this year’s WonderCon. And while he didn’t reveal much of anything he did say that:
“Jay Bonansinga did the lion’s share of the heavy lifting on that. I provided him story outlines and character beats and where I wanted the story to go and what I wanted the people to do. But as far as the nuts and bolts of actually putting that together, that was all Jay. So I can’t say that I feel like I learned a whole lot about novel writing. Because I kind of leaned on that guy to do everything. But it’s a fun novel. It’s kind of cool. It definitely fits into the Walking Dead world of the comic books, and fills in the gaps.”
And when questioned about what or who the story might involve Kirkman replied:
“You know, I don’t know if we’ve released that yet. I can say that it focuses on acharacter that is probably one of the most popular characters from the Walking Dead comic. But they are not in the comic anymore. So it’s kind of their backstory. And it fills in a lot of gaps from the comic series that you may not have even known were even there. It’s really cool.”
The Walking Dead novel, according to Robert Kirkman, is coming out in the fall.
