Sure, Frank Darabont may be gone, but AMC wants to assure us that everything is ok. AMC’s John Stillerman says that:
“I can confirm that Robert Kirkman, who’s the creator of the comic book series and somebody we consider to be the steward of the brand, will be continuing on in his role as full time writer and executive producer, and beyond them, there’s just an incredibly talented cast, writers’ room, and crew, not the least of which is our Emmy nominated special effects guru Greg Nicotero, who are all working incredibly hard to facilitate a seamless transition into the rest of Season 2, And I can report that production is not going to miss a beat, and we’re going to make our air date.”
He went on to say that:
“I also want to take a second and say a very heartfelt thank you to executive producer Frank Darabont for the incredible contribution he’s made to ‘The Walking Dead,’” he said. “He’s a visionary writer and director. He wrote a brilliant pilot. He directed a brilliant pilot. His fingerprints are all over the adaptation of Robert Kirkman’s brilliant source material to the television show that you see, and we’re grateful for his contribution.”
Stillerman also refused to comment on whether or not Darabont will or will not still be part of the show. However it was reported that the show’s writer Glenn Mazzarra will be taking Darabont’s place as Executive Producer.
