At this years New York Comic-Con, cast and crew sat down for a Walking Dead panel. The panel was hosted by Chris Hardwick (who will be hosting the new Walking Dead aftershow “Talking Dead”) among the attendees were Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, Steven Yeun, Chandler Riggs, Laurie Holden, and Norman reedus. Although nothing major was revealed, Gale Anne Hurd started the panel by saying that they have lured Robert Kirkman away from his home base in Kentucky to Los Angeles.
“We lured Robert from Kentucky to the wilds of Los Angeles, so he can participate in the writers’ room every day.”
And with that Robert Kirkman stated that the early episodes of Season 2 will center around Hershel’s Farm even though Shane is still around. He also says that being a part of the writing team for the TV Show is a lot of fun for him because he gets to revisit parts of his stories and do things a different way.
“Readers of the book will know that Shane [Jon Bernthal's character] was dead by then, in the comic. His character existing in this world changes those storylines and makes them richer and adds different levels. It’s a lot of fun for me because I wrote these stories a long time ago, and getting to do things in a different way is a lot of fun.”
Laurie Holden, while at the panel, didn’t say much but said that during the filming of the highway scene she dislocated four ribs. But on the other end of things Norman Reedus seemed to be the crowd favorite. During the panel he described his character Daryl as a man who needs a hug but if you try to hug him “he’ll try to stab you.” Steven Yeun, while addressing AMC willingness to show graphic violence, commented on the difficulty of filming the “sex stuff.”
Next, Chandler Riggs noted that he felt like he was playing a Carl in the Second Season compared to his character in the First Season, a Carl who goes out and gets in the middle of the action rather than standing in the background, doing nothing. Which could also explain how he gets shot and why, in one of the Season 2 trailers, Rick is running with Carl in his arms towards Hershel’s Farm just like the comics.
And finally, Robert Kirkman has stated that Micchone will be appearing in the show in the future (I.E. Not this Season).
