CultureMob Talks To Steven Yeun

Posted by Dane on Feb 8, 2012 in The Walking Dead News | 0 comments

CultureMob got a chance to sit down with actor Steven Yeun for an interview.  In the interview Yeun talks about what he thinks of his character, and where he would like to see his character go in future seasons among other things.

Allie Hanley: From your standpoint as the actor who has now played Glenn for two seasons on AMC’s The Walking Dead, what can you tell us about him?

Steven Yeun: Glenn is a constantly evolving character. He starts from a neutral place with a good set of morals. When you first meet him, he’s still a kid. He hasn’t been jaded yet. He’s excited at the prospect of being able to live… a kind of new existence. He’d rather it not be the Zombie Apocalypse, but if it’s going to be that gig then he sees himself as an opportunity to assert himself and step up to the plate. His character has an arc and an evolution as he grows… he’s effected by what is actually going on, he’s effected by other people, and realizing that he isn’t just some kid that isn’t worth anything, but that he actually has a lot of value. He could very well be the leader.

[Is this a hint towards what we are going to see in future episodes?]

Just now that situations are changing, he’s got to learn to adapt.

AH: I heard you were already a fan of the show and, unlike other cast members, you were already familiar with the story before you even had the part. Where would you like the character of Glenn to progress between season 2.5 and 3 [this is me trying to get some sort of clue to the future from Steven]?

SY: Okay, without giving anything away I think the general arc you see Glenn heading towards is just growing up, and realizing the situations does not call for, even if he is someone younger, it really doesn’t matter because he really is contributing and starting to realize that every move he makes is effective and affective. He really needs to make it his own… and I think that’s where we will be going towards.
