Ok so here's my few cents worth on Wildfire. I thought the episode
was a tad slow at points, and way too spasdic in others. Perhaps the
biggest gripe I have though is with the massive gapping plot holes with
the episode. Let's take my last point first.

  1. While driing down the road in the RV, the gang has to stop because
it starts overheating. To which Dale reminds Rick that he told him it
would not get very far due to the radiator holes being most duct tape
instead of hose. Next we hear Shane talk about spotting a gas station
off in the distance. It is implied that Shane and T-Dog would go in
search for a replacvement hose for the RV. While they are gone, Jim
decides he wants to be put out to pasture and left behind. Nice touch as
it does follow the line from the comic and is a moving moment. After
they put him next to the tree we see Shane & T-Dog have magically
returned with no mention of the replacement hose. Then they drive off in
the RV? Hello…major hole here. How the Heck does the RV drive off
after overheating and no means to hold water and cool the engine?
  2. Once they get to the CDC in the afterforementioned RV, they all
park in nice tidy spots next to the entrance. Notice the nicely
manicured lawns anyone! Since we are lead to believe its been six months
since the zombie hord invaded, who's been doing the yard work? Also the
CDC is well known both in the fictional world and real life. The story
even mentions the CDC was working on a cure before everything went to
crap. If true then way didn't more people have the same idea and go to
the CDC. Point being, there would be a LOT of abandoned cars, trucks,
    SUV's and such there already.
  3. They spent way too much time brewing over Amy's loss, and not
enough time on Jim's ultimate potential demise. I get that the producers
want to develop the humanity aspect of the show, but just felt this
time they got too muddled in the details, instead of pursuing more
relationships. For example, the scene where Rick and Shane go off on
patrol, and Shane begin to lose it. Only to find him aiming down on
Rick. Dale comes by and catches him. I think they could have done much
like the graphic novel and have Dale telling Rick why he shouldn't be
    trusting Shane so much.
  4. Another potential device could have been showing what the heck
happened to everyone at the CDC. Where's all the other scientists,
doctors, patients military and so forth. I just see this all as missed
    opportunities.

Negatives aside I though this episode was ok or at least gets
honorable mention. Yes we are to suspend our disbeliefs in such cases,
but its hard to ignore the obvious faults. I thought this was the
weakest episode thus far, but not enough to turn me off from the show.
To the contrary, I hope the producers take notice and decide to put more
work into developing the story and background more. This is a great
show and needs our support to continue the run. Criticism can only make
this stronger if production pays attention and doesn't get complacent
with the writing. But you can believe I will be with it to the end.

Most of those aren't plot holes.  A plot hole is an inconsistency in the story.  Pointing out that the lawn in front of the CDC isn't growing out of control after a couple of months is a plot hole, albiet a minor one.  But not liking the ammount of time spent on Amy's death vs. Jim's death, or how Shane/T-Dog fixed up the camper, or the lack of exposition on the demise of the CDC is just personal preference.  They certainly aren't plot holes.

There are problems:

1. Why is the army and airforce so ineffective? Tanks, helicopters, and automatic weapons are not as easily overrun by slow moving undead people as the series seems to assume.

2. In the brief flashback showing Lorie and Shane fleeing the city together, we see shots of planes bombing the city But in shots set later in time, there is no damage to the city. Only napalm or gas? If so, it has been ineffective. There are not many bodies of the undead lying around.

3. Why so few people and so few walkers? The Atlanta metro area has over 3 million people. The local roads get a lot more crowded than this on a typical Tuesday afternoon, even without everyone being chased by the living dead.

4. Many people, trapped in an Army tank while surrounded by the undead, would at least try to start the engine of the tank.

Sorry–I'm a fan of the show, in reality.
